Meet Susan Shelton
Briefly describe how you help people through your business.
I use my skills as a low-glycemic health coach, my experience living in a gluten-free world, and my expertise in nutrition and nutritional supplementation to help my clients feel better and live a happier healthier life.
Who are your ideal clients? Who do you heal or help?
My ideal client is interested in healthy living and is ready to make a change. Possibly they have watched the experiences of a family member who has fallen ill; maybe they have received a nudge from their physician; often they are just more aware that it’s time to take steps to improve their own health. They are open to supplementation, but don’t know where to start or how to upgrade. My ideal client is generally over 40, and is employed or working for themselves. (I also love self-starters who care about what they put into their bodies and are looking for a replacement income or an extra stream of income.)
How do you help people?
I do a lot of listening. I listen for key words, and then I engage in conversation and ask questions. When validating supplementation as a course of action, I will provide nutritional protocols and supplemental documentation to support my recommendations. I love to meet in person, but also do phone calls and zoom calls. When starting supplementation, I touch base with new clients during their first week and again on week three before a new order ships. Then I add them to a schedule to touch base periodically and see how they are doing and answer any questions.
What is your typical day like?
Not sure I have a typical day. I balance two businesses so the day or the season may actually dictate the day’s activities. But I love to start my day with a few stretches, and a good cup of coffee, and some lovin’ time with my cat, Bunker and talk time with the husband. Somewhere in the day I either get to the gym or go for a walk. I try my best to keep client work during the day but will schedule evening appointments as needed, one or two nights a week.
What makes your business so much fun?
I absolutely love to interact with people and to help people. I’m best one-to-one or in small group settings. But it makes my day when someone gives a testimonial, shares a story, or sends me a referral – all because of the positive differences they have experienced, by adding USANA’s supplements, food or skin care products to their life and incorporating a few lifestyle changes.
Which feature of The Celestial Circle do you like best and why?
There’s no one “best”. Study Hall is probably my favorite. In this crazy life of two businesses, sometimes I have trouble scheduling time to focus on growing my business. Study Hall offers me that invaluable time. I also really enjoy the month features and have learned a great deal from them. Then there is the “sisterhood” of the Circle…a special place to grow my business, make new friends, give and receive support, and to love and feel loved. Can’t beat that.
Why did you join The Celestial Circle?
As a solopreneur, working in a home office alone, I missed the social, educational, and supportive interactions with others. I also felt that I was working my businesses without the benefit of a marketing structure or plan. After “lurking” for a bit, I realized that membership with The Celestial Circle could offer me education, structure, and help with marketing and growing my business. In addition, I was thrilled to have a wonderful group of entrepreneurs that I could interact with and learn from.
What results have you experienced from being in The Celestial Circle?
More confidence in front of a camera (all those video Zooms); more comfortable with my 30-second “infomercial”; more confidence sharing the gift of USANA; almost there with social media (YES, 2020 includes social media!).
How important is The Celestial Circle community? Other Celestial Circle sisters?
The community of entrepreneurial sisters was one of the things that drew me to join the Celestial Circle and has only continued to increase in value. I absolutely love the friendships, both business and personal, that I have developed in this group.
What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about joining The Celestial Circle?
Do it NOW. You won’t regret it. You will get the education you need to market and grow your business and the support you want from a fabulous group of women.
