How I Create My Weekly Blog Post by Jill CelesteMany clients ask me: Jill, how you create your weekly blog post so consistently?

In this week’s marketing strategy, I will take you behind the scenes of my weekly blog writing and video making process.

I’ve been producing weekly content since 2013, and I’ve fine-tuned the process over the years.

What I know works best are two things: schedules and habits. I’ll talk about both in this blog post.

So, if you’ve ever been curious how I pump out my weekly marketing strategies, here’s your chance to peek behind the curtain. Let’s get to it!

When you create a habit, you don’t think about what you have to do. You just do it. - Jill Celeste

BLOG:

I have been writing a weekly blog post since April 2013. I started to add videos to my blog posts in 2015. I rarely missed a week, and usually because of national holidays.

Consistency in my blog writing is very important to me. Here’s why:

  1. I want to know be known for my consistency. If you see me as consistent, I believe you’ll trust my marketing advice.
  2. Producing weekly content helps my marketing, specifically search engine optimization (SEO) and social media.
  3. I repurpose my blog posts into other content, such as books, webinars, and classes. That way, I am not reinventing the wheel.

Now that you know my “why,” let’s delve into the “how.”

My weekly blog post production schedule

I have a schedule that I follow every week. The days on the schedule has changed over the years, but the idea of having a schedule has not.

Here’s my current production schedule:

  • Mondays – write blog post, create all blog graphics, write ezine, upload to WordPress
  • Tuesdays – shoot video and upload to YouTube, embed YouTube video into WordPress, upload and schedule video to Facebook, add thumbnail to my ezine, and send everything over to my virtual assistant for her final magic

Why don’t I do it all on the same day?

Mondays are my business development days, which means “no makeup.” I usually am teaching or doing Q&A calls on Tuesdays, which means “make-up and hair is done.” The perfect time to shoot a video, right? And it saves me time, too.

It’s about creating a habit

When you create a habit, you don’t think about what you have to do. You just do it.

If you’re struggling with consistent blog writing, then I recommend you first focus on how you create habits by taking The Four Tendencies quiz. Then, once you know your tendency, you can shape a habit without going against the grain.

Perhaps you’d work best batching blog posts together so you knock out 5-6 posts in one day. Perhaps you’re like me and do best having a regimented weekly schedule.

Do what works best for you. When you do it for thirty days or so, it will become a habit. And that’s when the consistency will come in!

I hope seeing the “behind the scenes” of my blog writing process will inspire you to create your own. If you can consistently post to your blog, you’ll enjoy many marketing benefits, including attracting your ideal clients. Good luck!

ABOUT JILL

Hi, I’m Jill Celeste. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs (just like you) everything you need to know about marketing so you can become the Director of Marketing for your business.

Because when you put your Director of Marketing hat squarely on your head, marketing is your number one priority (which will result in more clients!).

When I am not teaching about marketing, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband or my teenage boys, or taking a nap with my basset hound, Emma. I also like to play with my two kittens and feed the backyard ducks (much to my neighbor’s chagrin).

If you’re feeling alone in your entrepreneurial journey, I invite you to check out my monthly membership group, The Celestial Circle. Affordable, loving, supportive, informative, and fun – that’s how we roll in The Celestial Circle. We would love to welcome you!
