I know many of us are feeling the effects of the recent U.S. election—our hearts are heavy, our minds are racing, and there’s a fatigue that feels all too familiar. As entrepreneurs, we are used to carrying a lot, often on our own shoulders. But when the world feels unpredictable, it can be even harder to feel like we’re the only ship at sea.
Today, I want you to know: you are not alone.
When I founded Virtual Networkers in 2018, I dreamed of creating a place where women entrepreneurs could gather, connect, and support one another. Over the years, our community has ridden the tide of so many “big events”—from a global pandemic to national elections, from periods of economic uncertainty to international conflicts. We have been there for each other through it all, as a steady, unwavering source of strength. No matter what storms come our way or where they originate, we stand together, united in our support for one another.
In moments like this, community isn’t just a ‘nice-to-have’—it’s a lifeline. Community is where we’re able to bring our full selves, free from judgment and free to express our values and dreams.
This is the time to lean into a community that sees you, believes in you, and holds space for you, even on the “down” days. Maya Angelou said it best: “We are only as blind as we want to be.” Community allows us to see the world through clearer eyes—eyes that reflect not only our own struggles but also the joys and victories we are all capable of achieving, together.
Community is vital for women like us, who are conscientious, ambitious, and always ready to improve the world. Whether it’s a close group of peers, a circle of confidantes, or a larger organization like Virtual Networkers, find a place where you feel safe, lifted, and loved.
How To Find A Community
Today, I would like to encourage you to find your community, and if you’re not sure where to start, here are some helpful tips:
- Look for Groups with Shared Values
Join a group that aligns with your core values. Seek communities that care about the same causes, share your vision, and celebrate authenticity. Whether it’s a local organization or a global network, find a place where your values are upheld. - Tap into How You Feel Energetically
Groups and communities can have a lot of masculine energy, while others have a stronger feminine energy. Make sure the energy of the group feels aligned with you. Otherwise, you may find the experience to be “icky.” - Follow Leaders and Groups on Social Media
Many communities host online gatherings and share valuable insights on social media. Engage with content that resonates, and don’t be afraid to reach out or comment—you may find people just like you who are looking for connection. - Attend Events and Networking Opportunities
Many groups offer virtual events or open-house days and/or welcome guests. Attend a few and see how you feel. The right community will leave you feeling inspired and valued. - Ask for Recommendations
Reach out to your network and ask where they find community. Women entrepreneurs know the power of connection, and they’ll often have suggestions based on their own experiences. - Seek Authenticity and Support
Look for a space where you feel you can show up as your whole self. Community should be a place of support, where your ambitions are lifted and you’re encouraged to be real, even on the hard days.
In Virtual Networkers, we’re proud to be a space for women to gather, grow, and uplift each other. It’s a place where you can share your truth, where you can be yourself—even on the days when that self feels vulnerable. If you’re looking for a community that honors who you are, we’d love to welcome you.
But if we’re not the right fit, please find a place that is. It’s too important not to have a space that supports you and cheers you on. A community like this will remind you of your power and, equally important, show you that even when times feel uncertain, you are part of something much bigger.
Let’s carry each other through this next season, lifting each other up as only women can. Because when we come together, we are unstoppable.
