Have you ever felt like you don’t have the energy for marketing? As I write this blog post, we are in the deep throes of the coronavirus pandemic, and for empaths, this is an energetically trying time.
Even if you’re not an empath, chances are you’re experiencing a wild ride of emotions. We are grieving lots of losses. We wouldn’t be human if we weren’t feeling something.
As female entrepreneurs, we have different energetic pulls. If you’re a mom, you have your kids to worry about. If you’re in a relationship, you have a partner to consider. If you have aging parents, you are concerned about their health. Add in clients, sales prospects, community members, politicians, and everyone else in your circle – and your cup is probably running over.
This week, let’s have a real look at marketing and your energy levels.

Marketing requires positive energy. Notice I didn’t say energy – but positive energy. As the director of marketing for your business, you want to infuse your marketing with positivity so you get positive results.
So, how do you pull this off when you don’t any have energy at all?
I have some ideas for your consideration – please implement what feels right for you.
#1: Practice self-care and forgiveness
I am a low-energy person. Just an hour-long networking meeting can put me in bed for two hours. I have accepted this about myself – and never apologize for my energy levels. It’s the way I’m wired.
If you are feeling low energy, it’s essential you don’t chastise yourself. Practice immense self-care and forgiveness. There’s a reason why you don’t have energy. It’s a bad idea to push yourself to do something when you don’t have the energy for it.
When you have no energy, take care of yourself. Period.
#2: Determine what about marketing is an energy suck
Look at your marketing. Are you only implementing things that you love implementing?
I call this Marketing Joy™ – when you only implement marketing activities you love to implement. This is an extension of the Law of Attraction. If the marketing activity is joyful, you’ll see joyful results.
And if you like the marketing task, it takes less energy to implement it.
Look at your marketing plan and cross off marketing tasks that don’t bring you joy. Only implement what is joyful. That will help your energy so much.
#3: Is it your Ego talking?
Our Ego is a master of masks. He can appear as the Fraud Factor. He can appear as Resistance. And yes, sometimes his mask is low energy.
One of my challenges as a marketer is determining if I’m feeling “genuine” low energy or if I’m hiding. Hiding is my first inclination, so I have to be careful.
Here’s how I determine if it’s Ego. Where do I feel my fatigue? If I feel it behind my eyes, I know it’s low energy. If I feel it in my throat, that’s my Ego. It’s taken a lot of practice and meditation to find make these determinations, but it’s so helpful now that I know.
When you are feeling low energy, drop into your body. Where are you feeling your fatigue?
When you are feeling resistance, drop into your body. Where are you feeling your resistance?
Knowing where you feel these two feelings will help you determine if you are truly feeling low energy, or if you’re procrastinating, avoiding, or hiding.
Be gentle with yourself, Celestial One. These are trying times, for sure. Listen to your intuition and your heart. They will help you navigate through the uncertainty. It’s okay to rest. And it’s okay to get loud. The perfect formula has both elements. I am rooting for you!
