Let’s just name it: Sometimes your mindset is in the crapper. Mine too.
We are humans. We experience all the emotions—anger, disappointment, jealousy, grief. It’s normal. We can’t bypass the hard feelings or pretend they don’t exist. In fact, I believe you have to move through the breakdown to get to the breakthrough. Otherwise, whatever is bothering you will just keep resurfacing, louder and more persistent each time.
So yes, feel it. Cry if you need to. Rage if you need to. Honor your humanity.
But don’t get stuck there.
If you stay in that pit too long, it begins to infect everything—your body, your business, your confidence, your light. That’s when I know it’s time to shift. Not spiritually bypass, but pivot.
Here’s what I do when I feel my mindset spiraling:
1. Rest.
Sometimes, the kindest thing I can do is close my laptop, crawl under a blanket, and take a nap. It’s not avoidance. It’s medicine. My low-energy introvert self often just needs to power down.
2. Move my body.
Whether it’s strength training, a HIIT workout, or a walk with my basset hounds, movement shifts the stuck energy. It gets me out of my head and into my body, where healing can begin.
3. Productive puttering.
I put down the phone. Close the tabs. Stay away from the news. Current events can be a huge trigger for me.
Then I do something small and simple. Clean the kitchen, run a load of laundry, organize a drawer, or tidy up the dog toys. That gentle movement is how I calm my nervous system. It clears my mind and brings me back to center.
4. Sound healing.
I listen to Solfeggio frequencies, especially 396 Hz, which helps release fear and guilt. It’s grounding and soothing and reminds me I’m made of energy.

5. Speak truth to my mind.
I repeat affirmations like:
- “Time expands for me. I have enough time to accomplish everything.”
- “It is safe for me to grow.”
- “The Universe has my best interest at heart.”
- “I am at peace.”
I say them slowly, intentionally, until I feel the shift begin.
6. Reconnect with my purpose.
I remember why I’m here—to help women entrepreneurs shine their lights. Sometimes I’ll write it down. Purpose is a powerful flashlight when your mindset is in the dark.
7. Write and read.
Writing and reading are kindred practices for me. I’ll journal, write a blog post, or even draft a letter I never send. It helps me release the frustration in a constructive way.
And reading? It’s sacred. I pick up whatever book is on my nightstand and let it transport me.
8. Let joy in.
I pet my dogs. I watch the birds at my feeder. I rewatch funny Spongebob episodes I used to watch with my boys. I laugh. I stay in the moment. I allow joy in!
9. Trust the Universe.
I remind myself that this moment is just one page in a very long, beautiful book. I don’t need all the answers today. I just need to trust that the Universe always has my back.
Take Care of Your Mindset
You don’t need to be positive all the time. But you do deserve to feel better. You are allowed to take care of your mind, just as you would your body or your spirit.
So the next time your mindset’s in the crapper, don’t panic. Just reach for one lifeline and trust that you’ll find your way back.
I am here for you. Always.
