Virtual Networkers

The chat box is a crucial part of your virtual networking experience! We don’t get to exchange business cards at virtual networking meetings, so the chat box steps in to fill that role.

Please watch and read this week’s networking blog post about how you can successfully leverage the chat box while virtual networking. I think you’ll find these two strategies super helpful!

BLOG POST:

“Please put your information in the chat box,” is a request you’ll often hear at a virtual networking meeting.

But what details should you include? And what do you do with the chat box transcript after the meeting?

Here are two key strategies to help you leverage the chat box effectively while virtual networking.

Prepare What You’ll Share

Before you “step foot” into a Zoom room, prepare what you’ll drop into the chat box. I have a Word document saved to my desktop that I can easily retrieve at the start of the meeting. My details are already there for a quick copy and paste:

What should you include in your chat box details? Whatever you want! Here are some ideas:

  • Your name
  • Location
  • Email address
  • Web address
  • Link to coffee date calendar
  • Social media account links
  • Link to your latest offer

When you have your chat box details saved in a document, it saves you time from having to type it into the chat box every time. Just a simple copy and paste, and you can turn your attention back to the meeting!

Review the Chat Box

Once the meeting ends, be sure to review the chat box. You may want to add time to your calendar for “chat box review.” Most virtual networking groups will ask that you save the chat box before leaving the meeting. In Virtual Networkers, the chapter president sends the chat box transcript to all participants. However you access it, just make sure you do!

Many of the “asks” in the chat box are quick ones, such as subscribing to someone’s YouTube channel or newsletter. Furthermore, most of the contact details are at the top of the transcript, so it won’t take you long to review.

One more thing: If you’re a Law of Attraction practitioner like me, remember that if you put an ask in the chat box, be sure to reciprocate! Like attracts like—energetically, if you’re helping others out, the Universe will help you too.

Now that you have these two chat box strategies, be sure to implement them at your next virtual networking meeting.

And if you want to see a vibrant chat box in action, please attend a Virtual Networkers meeting. Our members have their chat box marketing down pat, and you can benchmark their ideas—in addition to meeting our wonderful members.

Happy networking!
