3 Things Your Facebook Group Must Have by Jill CelesteI love using Facebook groups because they allow me to connect with my community in a fun and intimate setting. I have a free Facebook group for female entrepreneurs (called Celestial Ones) as well as Facebook groups for each of my classes and programs, including The Celestial Circle.

(Not to mention the Facebook group I keep for my college classmates!)

And Facebook wants you to use groups! The group functionality is improving by the day, and your group posts are more likely to be seen than your Facebook page posts.

Whether you have a Facebook group – or are considering one – I hope you’ll check out this week’s marketing strategy because I have three valuable Facebook group tips for you.

I’ve been facilitating Facebook groups for years. I’ve experimented (sometimes successfully, sometimes not) – and I’ve honed in on three “must haves” for your Facebook group.

Keep reading to check them out!

Facebook groups are not a democracy. - Jill Celeste

BLOG:

Facebook groups can be the online hub for your community, especially if you’re in there every day, connecting with your members.

For entrepreneurs, Facebook groups can be used to generate warm leads, provide a gathering space for your paying clients, and help garner excitement for an event.

Unfortunately, some entrepreneurs start the group and leave it to chance (and then wonder why their Facebook group feels like a waste of time).

Facebook groups don’t have to be a waste of time, especially if you implement these three “must haves.”

#1: Who is the ideal client for your Facebook group?

Not everyone should be in your Facebook group (just like not everyone is should be in your program).

Like with your product and services, your Facebook group has an ideal client, too.

Give this some thought, especially if you have a free Facebook group. You only want people in there who could potentially become your client and who fits the vibe for the group.

#2: Establish community rules and stick to them

A great Facebook group has rules. And a great Facebook group moderator isn’t afraid to use them.

Here’s the thing: Facebook groups are not a democracy. You are in charge and you get to say what flies (and doesn’t fly) in your group.

So, post those community rules (Facebook has a special spot for them) and remind your members about them, especially if someone violates your rule. And be unapologetic about it!

#3: You

The third “must-have” thing you need for your Facebook group is…you.

You must be in there.

I know a lot of entrepreneurs use software to post Facebook group messages and never (really) interact with their community.

People joined your Facebook Group to hang out with you. When you’re not there, it’s like inviting people to your house and then you take off to see a movie.

If this sounds daunting or you don’t have time, then skip having a Facebook group. Your business won’t fold if don’t have one. But it will look badly on your brand if you have a Facebook group and ghost it.

Now that you know the three things your Facebook group must have, be sure to implement each one. Your Facebook group will prosper because you’ve assembled the right people, established ground rules, and are an active part of your group. That’s an amazing formula for Facebook group success!

ABOUT JILL

Hi, I’m Jill Celeste. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs (just like you) everything you need to know about marketing so you can become the Director of Marketing for your business.

Because when you put your Director of Marketing hat squarely on your head, marketing is your number one priority (which will result in more clients!).

When I am not teaching about marketing, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband or my teenage boys, or taking a nap with my basset hound, Emma. I also like to play with my two kittens and feed the backyard ducks (much to my neighbor’s chagrin).

If you’re feeling alone in your entrepreneurial journey, I invite you to check out my monthly membership group, The Celestial Circle. Affordable, loving, supportive, informative, and fun – that’s how we roll in The Celestial Circle. We would love to welcome you!
