Promoting Virtual Networkers has been essential to our growth and success as a global community for women entrepreneurs. While marketing covers a broader range of activities—like goal setting, messaging, and planning—promotion is the focused, visibility-driven action we take to bring attention to our meetings and our organization.
Through a mix of social media, email, personal networking, and more, we’ve developed a strategy that not only builds awareness but attracts the right women into our sisterhood.
Here are seven ways we promote Virtual Networkers and how you can apply these strategies to elevate your own promotion marketing.
1) Social Media: Consistency and Leverage
Virtual Networkers has a presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Among these, LinkedIn has been the most successful, offering the most followers and interaction. It’s where we’ve seen guests and new members come directly from our promotion marketing.

We post the same content across all three platforms simultaneously for consistency. For key events, such as our Coffee Date Parties and Love and Learn Parties, we also create LinkedIn event pages—these have been fantastic in reaching new audiences. If you’re not leveraging LinkedIn’s event tools, it’s a missed opportunity.
Your takeaway: Consistent posting and leveraging event tools on social media can build awareness, attract guests, and convert followers into members.
2) Email Marketing: Nurturing Connections
I have a growing list of past guests, and we’ve improved our process to capture more contacts at the chapter level. Whenever we have a special event or promotion, such as a signing bonus offer, I make sure my email subscribers know about it. I also send out my “Weekly Connect” email (subscribe here), which includes a blog post and a schedule of the upcoming week’s meetings by chapter.
This consistent communication keeps Virtual Networkers top of mind and invites guests back into our community.
Your takeaway: Don’t underestimate the power of nurturing your email list. Keep your audience informed and engaged with regular, value-driven updates.
3) Jill Goes Networking: Visibility Among Peers
I don’t just rely on Virtual Networkers to network—I belong to other virtual networking groups that align with my energy. Through these groups, I’ve met new members and peers who are perfect fits for Virtual Networkers. I make it a point to invite everyone I connect with to one of our meetings.
Your takeaway: Networking within other communities can bring great visibility to your business—don’t be afraid to extend personal invitations.
4) Member Referrals: The Power of Heartfelt Invitations
Our members are wonderful at spreading the word. They invite friends to meetings, and many share our social media posts on their personal profiles. We do not incentivize referrals—it’s entirely heartfelt, which makes these invitations all the more genuine. This has created a strong ripple effect of love, connection, and new members.
Your takeaway: When your members or clients have a great experience, they’ll naturally want to share it with others. Focus on creating such an environment, and the referrals will come.
5) Jill’s Personal Brand: Building Trust and Visibility
I’m working on building my personal brand as a networking expert and the founder of Virtual Networkers. While I’m just getting started, this includes social media posts and videos where I share my insights and experiences. Soon, I’ll return to speaking and writing books. Though I can’t report results yet, I’m certain this strategy will bolster Virtual Networkers’ visibility.
Your takeaway: Personal branding isn’t just a trend—it’s essential for standing out and attracting the right people to your business. Don’t hesitate to share your expertise and insights in an authentic way.
6) Testimonials and Social Proof: Sharing Member Success Stories
One of the most effective promotional strategies I use is sharing testimonials from happy members. I regularly showcase member experiences in social media posts and email newsletters. These testimonials provide powerful social proof—offering a glimpse of what it’s like to be part of Virtual Networkers.
By sharing real stories, I’m building trust and showing potential new members the genuine value of being part of this community.
Here are examples of testimonials we created to highlight some of our charter members (members who have been with Virtual Networkers since the early years).

Your takeaway: Let your current members or clients be your voice. Testimonials and success stories are a compelling way to show the impact of your business and build credibility. Share your testimonials liberally!
7) Special Events and Bonuses: Creating Urgency and Value
We love running special promotions and hosting unique events, like signing bonuses or Coffee Date Parties. These events offer an engaging way for potential new members to experience Virtual Networkers in a low-pressure environment while also providing added value.
The exclusivity and limited-time nature of these offers create urgency, motivating people to take action. Over the years, we’ve seen great success in attracting new members through these special events and promotions.
Your takeaway: Offering exclusive events and bonuses can generate interest and create the urgency needed to convert visitors into members or clients.
In summary
These promotion strategies are how we’ve grown Virtual Networkers from a small idea to a global sisterhood. Social media, email marketing, networking within other groups, member referrals, personal branding, testimonials, and special offers are powerful tools—but use them discerningly. What works for Virtual Networkers may not be the perfect fit for your business. However, by aligning these tips with your own goals and values, you’ll be on your way to greater visibility and growth.
