My 2020 Marketing Plan by Jill CelesteHave you thought about your 2020 marketing plan? Now is the time! Even if you just plan for the first quarter, you’ll appreciate having a road map for your marketing journey.

In this week’s marketing strategy, I will share aspects of my 2020 marketing plan with you. It’s a work in progress, but I think what I’m planning will inspire you.

Before I get into specifics about my marketing plan, let me remind you why it’s important to have one:

  1. Marketing plans are your road maps. Just like you wouldn’t drive to Provo, Utah, without some type of navigation, you don’t want to market your business without a plan to help you reach your destination.
  2. All successful businesses have something in common: their marketing plan. Even the smallest of businesses need one.
  3. Marketing plans are great for helping you stay focused. Got Shiny Object Syndrome? You can steer your attention away from Shiny Objects by saying “this is not in my marketing plan.” (This works wonders!)

I’m excited to share with you what I have (so far) for my 2020 marketing plan. Ready to get inspired? Let’s do this.

BLOG:

I have declared 2020 “The Year of Loud Women.”

You see: I believe female entrepreneurs are the changemakers this world needs right now. With our Gifts, we will make this world a better place.

That means we must get loud in the marketplace – taking up more space, being unapologetic in our messaging, and being relentless about getting in front of our ideal clients.

My word for 2020 is “loud.” I plan on making lots of Meaningful Noise, and to pull this off, I need to shed my fears and get out there in a big way.

In addition to being loud, I want to reduce my dependency of Facebook. Let’s face it: Organic reach on Facebook is hard to get. I also have ideological issues with Facebook’s involvement in political propaganda. For these reasons, it’s time to explore other ways to get in front of my ideal clients.

With these two thmes in mind, here’s my 2020 marketing plan.

My 2020 marketing plan is all about content

To sum up my 2020 marketing plan, I would use three words: Content, content, and content.

Content marketing, where I am creating original content as well as curating meaningful content, will be the hub of my 2020 marketing plan.

I am blessed to be a gifted writer and teacher – and these content mediums bring me great joy. Therefore, I am focusing on the following types of original content for 2020:

  1. Blog posts (my own and guest blogs)
  2. Finishing my Spiritual Marketing book
  3. Long-form social media posts for Facebook and Instagram
  4. Videos (pre-recorded and livestreamed)
  5. Book reviews
  6. Informative graphics

Why am I focusing on creating content? The official marketing reasons are that it helps with search engine optimization, social media engagement, and the know/like/trust factor with future clients.

Additionally, women who love to learn are my ideal clients. They read books and blog posts; they watch videos; they want to be inspired. My plan is to meet them where they are, and content marketing is how I’ll get there. Plus, creating original content is a great way to be loud!

Sharing my content

As I mentioned earlier, I want to reduce my dependency on Facebook. I plan on having my Facebook Groups, but I can’t depend on Facebook to help me get the message out (unless I want to pay them, which I don’t).

For these reasons, I am shifting my focus on two other content sharing sites: YouTube and Pinterest.

YouTube will be my video marketing hub. I have a lot of videos on YouTube now, but I haven’t optimized my channel well. In 2020, I will be more deliberate about asking for subscribers, comments, and likes. I will also do a better job with optimizing my videos with keywords, adding links to my lead magnets, and organizing my videos into playlists.

In addition to YouTube, I will be mastering Pinterest. It’s funny – I was a beta user for Pinterest “back in the day,” and took classes about Pinterest marketing. But I haven’t tapped into the marketing power of Pinterest. Sure, I have pins there, but I am not doing a good job with getting people from Pinterest to my website. That’s what I’ll be focusing on in 2020.

What about other forms of social media? Yes, I will be sharing my content to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but it’ll be quick, meaningful shares. I’m not ignoring these social media sites – just shifting my focus away from them.

Now it’s your turn

Now that you’ve read my 2020 marketing plan, what are your plan? Have you written your marketing plan for next year? I hope after reading this blog post, you are ready to get started.

Remember: You are here to change the world. It’s time to step out of your comfort zone and take up more space in the marketplace. You are the changemaker the world needs. I can’t wait to see what you do in 2020.

ABOUT JILL

Hi, I’m Jill Celeste. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs (just like you) everything you need to know about marketing so you can become the Director of Marketing for your business.

Because when you put your Director of Marketing hat squarely on your head, marketing is your number one priority (which will result in more clients!).

When I am not teaching about marketing, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband or my sons, loving up my two cats, or feeding the backyard ducks (much to my neighbor’s chagrin). I am an avid reader of literary fiction and personal development books. And I like to talk to my sweet basset hound, Emma, who left this earthly plane on October 17, 2019.
