3 Things You Don’t Need Right Now For Your Marketing by Jill CelesteI’ve been blessed to be a marketing coach for entrepreneurs since 2013, and I have seen many trends, including what marketing things you don’t need.

As a solopreneur, you need to be essential with your time, money, and resources.

That means you don’t need every little marketing thing, even if the experts say you should (wink, wink).

In this week’s marketing strategy, I will share with you three things you don’t need right now for your marketing.

I hope these tips will help you make smarter marketing decisions – and save you aggravation as you implement only your essential marketing needs.

Okay, let’s get to it! Here are the three things you don’t need right now for your marketing.

What do you really need to market your business? I’ve narrowed down three things that you don’t need – sometimes, that’s a good place to start!

#1: A tagline

A tagline is a “nice to have,” for sure, but you don’t absolutely need one for your business – at least at the solopreneur stage.

Think about it: Your business is still evolving. Your tagline will age itself out – maybe as quickly as a year.

If you do decide to create a tagline, hire a professional. Believe it or not, taglines have a nuisance, and a trained copywriter or branding specialist will be able to write an amazing tagline you’ll love.

#2: A gazillion social media accounts

Unless you’re in a social media business, you don’t really need to be on every social media site.

This is a recipe for disaster, really, because you will spread yourself too thin (which means you won’t get the results you’re looking for).

I often say “It’s better to be a master of one social media platform then a mediocre user of three.”

That means: Use one social media platform really well – until you reach a mastery level. And then add another social media channel to the mix.

Start with the social media site that is frequented the most by your ideal clients. And when it’s time to expand, consider hiring a social media manager to help you. A great social media manager will help you post content and make sure you are getting an ROI from your social media marketing.

#3: A fancy, whiz-bang website

I’ve seen many entrepreneurs dump thousands and thousands of dollars on their websites – putting these costs on a credit card or withdrawing from their 401Ks.

Please know this: At this stage of your business, you don’t need a website with all the bells and whistles.

A clean, functioning website is all you need. As long as it shows how you help your ideal clients and how to contact you, your website is good enough. You will not lose clients because your website doesn’t look elaborate.

Instead, invest some money in professional photos. Again, you don’t need to break the bank – but having professional photos will upgrade your website instantly!

There you have it – the three things you don’t need right now for your marketing.

Remember: Keep it simple. Be essential with your time, energy, and money. You don’t have to have everything right now – just the marketing tactics that will put you in front of your ideal clients at the lowest cost possible. You got this – I am rooting for you!

ABOUT JILL

Hi, I’m Jill Celeste. I teach purpose-driven entrepreneurs (just like you) everything you need to know about marketing so you can become the Director of Marketing for your business.

Because when you put your Director of Marketing hat squarely on your head, marketing is your number one priority (which will result in more clients!).

When I am not teaching about marketing, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband or my teenage boys, or taking a nap with my basset hound, Emma. I also like to play with my two kittens and feed the backyard ducks (much to my neighbor’s chagrin).

If you’re feeling alone in your entrepreneurial journey, I invite you to check out my monthly membership group, The Celestial Circle. Affordable, loving, supportive, informative, and fun – that’s how we roll in The Celestial Circle. We would love to welcome you!
